The festive season is now well and truly behind us and we are very much at work. Happily I can report that those members who had misfortunes during the last year with broken limbs and swollen wrists are now fully recovered and ready to entertain you.
In the immediate we are in the throes of preparing our Concert programme which we hope you will find enjoyable. The first concert is now very close indeed and we look forward to seeing you at All Saints on Friday 4 March. Since we last went to press we have gained two more concerts and have made a decision about the Club Night in June. Enclosed is a revised calendar.
We have begun to think seriously about the show and can tell you that the team at the helm will once again be Colin Akers and Margaret Schofield, so be prepared for lots of hard work but hopefully some fun as well.
In the first instance we are very aware that many members, old and new, may wish to be in the show but know very little about it. With a view to solving this small problem we have arranged a social.

Please let Kathryn Buxton know if you wish to attend so that supper can be ordered for you.
The next most important information as far as The Grand Duke is concerned is the audition date and venue. This is:
Details regarding the auditions are available from the
Secretary (address at the top of this letter). Good luck to all.As we did not have our usual new year walk, Jane Fellows has very kindly agreed to coordinate a walk on Monday 28 March. This is in fact Easter Monday and we hope that people will join in this social event. Let's hope the weather is kind on this occasion but be prepared for anything.
The walk will start late morning (11.00 a.m.) and finish mid-afternoon at 4 Almondbury Close, Almondbury, Huddersfield (01484 305771). Jane is happy to provide warm food for afterwards but anyone wishing to contribute to the food can do so with pleasure. Jane will have lots to tell I am sure having just returned from a two week trip to Tanzania.
| Urgent message to all lady members. If you are not singing with us in this Concert Season, and you have a pink concert dress which you no longer require, could you please return it to Kathryn Buxton. She will be very grateful to receive it. |
The Librarian has noticed a fall in numbers of vocal scores in the Society's cupboard at All Saints. It may be that a member has borrowed the odd score for a concert season or a Club Night, and is hanging on to it even though it's not being used at the moment. Can you please look for any Society scores you may have at home, and return them on a Friday night, so that we can do a check on our stocks?
Members and patrons will receive documents relating to the AGM with this Newsletter, as well as a renewal form for Subscriptions and Patrons' fees. The Treasurer would be very grateful for settlement as promptly as possible, because we have payments to make at the beginning of the year before income has started to come in from concerts and Club Nights.
If you could persuade a friend to take out membership or patronage, that would be even better. The more people we have supporting the Society, the easier it is to generate further support, and to provide a strong foundation (of both money and participants) for what we do.
The next newsletter will hopefully be out just after the Easter holiday by which time we will have had the AGM and will be able to report any important outcomes from the meeting.
