Away we go to an island fair …
Rehearsals are well under way for The Gondoliers (Halifax Playhouse, November 3-7), and we need to get busy advertising the show and selling tickets. A5 flyers/booking forms and A4 posters are available from Kathryn (see above). Do contact her if you want a quantity.
Please encourage your friends, relatives, workmates, to come and see the show. It is vital that we get near to breaking even this year. Remember that it’s two for £10 on the Tuesday night. If we can get plenty of people to the first night, who will then pass the word around their circle of friends, so much the better.
Transport of delight
To help advertise the show, Kelvyn Waites has organized an open-top bus for Saturday October 24 th . We shall meet it at 11 a.m. at the Playhouse and then tour Halifax town centre with it (appropriately costumed), handing out leaflets and singing the odd chorus. We have the bus until 3 p.m., but if you can get along for any time during those four hours you would be very welcome. This invitation is not addressed only to those who will be on stage in the show – the more the merrier.
Christmas is coming
I know it gets earlier every year, but please put this date in your diary. Friday December 11 th will see a Christmas pot-pourri at All Saints, starting at 7.45. This will take the same form as the usual Club Night pot-pourris, but if you have a particularly Christmassy party piece this would be the time to bring it out. Songs, recitations, instrumental pieces, or anything else you can think of. Please let Trevor Roberts know if you have something in mind.
Congratulations
to Margaret Schofield and Amy Greenwood. The NODA District 2008 award for best show went to our Sorcerer and Amy picked up the award for best female performer.
To be seen soon after our show …
November 16 – 21 : Haworth West Lane Baptist A.O.S. – The Gondoliers (Leon Waksberg takes on Marco this time)
November 25 – 29 : Meltham Parish Church G & S – The Yeomen of the Guard
And finally, we are planning to give The Yeomen of the Guard in November 2010.
Please sell those tickets !
